Greasy Stains w/Baking Soda
When we say greasy, we mean anything with oil in it. Oil can really outline a spot, and we all know what outlining can do. You guessed it! Attract more dirt.
Here’s how you remove greasy stains using baking soda:
- Get a clean cloth or paper towel and press it into the stain to remove as much grease as possible. Be careful not to rub or scrub, as this will make the oils harder to remove.
- Sprinkle a hefty amount of baking soda directly over the entire stain.
- Be patient and wait a while; the longer, the better. We suggest opting for overnight, just be sure to block off the area from kids and animals for the time being. Remember, the longer the baking soda stays on the stain, the more oil it will absorb.
- After a long wait, thoroughly vacuum the area and carefully inspect it. The stain should be all gone!

Non-Greasy Stains w/Baking Soda
When we say non-greasy, we mean something that doesn’t have an underlying residue. These stains are typically easier to fight.
Here’s how you remove non-greasy stains using baking soda:
- Sprinkle a hefty amount of baking soda directly over the entire stain.
- Moisten the area with a wet paper towel or washcloth. Make sure the water is hot. But squeeze it out so that it’s damp and not dripping before you moisten the area.
- Leave the wet paper towel or washcloth on top of the baking soda for at least three hours. If possible, leave it longer.
- Remove the towel or cloth and vacuum the area. You may repeat the process if the stain is not fully removed.
